NSCF Coaches win "Top Company Team"
(February 2000)
A team of four NSCF coaches turned out a sterling performance in the popular annual event, scoring 4-2 as a team to win four engraved chess clocks which recognize them as "Top Company Team".
|
The popular team event held in Parsipanny, NJ was a 6-round Swiss System team tournament with four-person teams.
Each team must have an average rating under 2200. The NSCF coaches fielded an under-1800 team named "That's Amori". Their final score was good enough to win the under-1800 trophy,
but they took the Company Team trophy and left the under-1800 trophy to a team led by famous chess coach Mark Dvoretzky. |
Individual results:
Top board Mike Amori scored 41/2-11/2,
an excellent result for this event.
Second board Felix Lopez also scored a strong 41/2-11/2.
On third board, Peter Baust scored 4-2, scoring a dramatic last round upset victory over
NSCF Expert Dorothy Teasley. See the game here.
Joe Maher rounded out the team on board 4 with a 2-4 score, contributing to a team score of 15-9 in individual points.
