NSCF Instructor, Tournament Director
Peter is currently employed as a full time chess instructor for the NSCF.
He teaches chess in curriculum and enrichment programs,
and has been teaching chess in schools for over 20 years.
Peter is currently coordinator of the NSCF summer chess camps and Chief Director of the NSCF Scholastic Tournaments.
As a tournament player, Peter was on the team that won the 2000 U.S. Amateur Team East Championship as Top Company team.
Here's his best game from that event.
Peter enjoys working with children of all ages, whatever their level of expertise.
Peter says: "I believe chess has great developmental value for children. Advancement in chess is easy
if it is
made exciting, both for those who play chess for fun, and for those who like to compete seriously
in tournaments.
I have taught and coached many students who have improved enough to win First Place trophies
in scholastic tournaments, in all sections from K/1 through Championship."
Peter's teaching was highlighted in an article in the Westchester newspaper The Journal News, April 28, 2000.
