NSCF Instructor
Mike is a retired Physical Education teacher. He makes good use of his experience during the
NSCF Summer Camp, when he serves as both a chess coach and recreation coordinator.
Mike is a former student of Grandmaster Samuel Reshevsky (who was seven times U.S. Chess Champion).
Mike has achieved the rank of Expert of the USCF, and has been Bronx/Yonkers Chess Club champion
three times .
Currently a full-time chess instructor for the NSCF, Mike teaches chess in numerous
schools. His students include a National Scholastic Champion. He loves to entertain his students with stories of
his games against famous chess personalities, especially his loss against Bobby Fischer and his draws against two other former World Champion, Gary Kasparov and Boris Spassky, in simultaneous exhibitions.
