Chess Instructor

Silvio is a chess enthusiast who indulges his passion by teaching, directing and playing chess.

Silvio has been an NSCF instructor since 1999. He teaches both enrichment and curricular classes for the NSCF. As an instructor in the classroom and as a private tutor, Silvio tailors lessons to the learning needs of the student, and teaches with a combination of instruction and fun.

Silvio has been recognized as a special instructor who is a master of classroom management and teaching strategies. He effectively uses many sources and varies his approach. Silvio adjusts his tone, activity and interaction to best meet the needs of the children. As a result, all students learn in a maximized way.

Silvio has a calm manner while maintaining high standards and meeting the challenges of teaching.

As an NSCF tournament director, Silvio directs tournaments held in Westchester and Southern Connecticut, including the New York State Championships. He excels at successfully directing the young players in the K/1 section, where he creates an orderly and positive atmosphere.

Silvio is currently an active member of the Bob Peretz Chess Club and the Westchester Chess Club.
