Stop that pawn!
Royyuru-Gardephe 2010 Connected passed pawns can be very dangerous, especially if supported from behind. In this position, Paul Gardephe has a material advantage as Black against Aditya Royyuru, the 2010 Overall Grand Prix champion, but he must consider that he may have to give something back in order to stop White from queening a pawn. With that in mind, what is the best move for Black? Answer. Black should play 1...Nc5.  Preparing to sacrifice the knight for the a-pawn when it advances to a6.
In the game Black played 1...Rb2 2.a5 Nc5, and missed a second chance to give up the knight after 3.a6, thus turning a win into a loss.
